Research in the Rutkowski Lab

Our laboratory utilizes a combination of molecular biology, transgenic animal models, crispr/cas9 genome editing, and multispectral immunohistochemical analysis of human samples to uncover the immunoregulatory pathways that are influenced by commensal microbes during malignant progression.

Aside from human samples, we use a variety of experimental models in the lab to understand the immunobiology of breast and ovarian cancer, including two genetic models for breast and ovarian cancerA) Intraductal targeting of latent mutations to initiate breast cancer. B) Intrabursal targeting of latent mutations to initiate ovarian cancer.(see images below).
