Research Interests

Cellular and molecular mechanisms of B lymphocyte function; Genetic susceptibility in systemic lupus erythematosus; Immunotherapeutics in the treatment of B cell disorders

Research Description

CURRENT PROJECTS: - Using mouse genetics to identify the susceptibility factors that control B cell tolerance, differentiation and survival, leading to autoantibody production. - Defining the mechanisms by which autoimmune susceptibility elicits inflammation and recruitment of innate immune cells in secondary lymphoid organs that affect B cell function. - Examining helper activity and inflammatory cytokines of human T cells in peripheral blood of SLE patients that affect B cell function. - Characterizing the regulation and activity in primary mouse T follicular helper cells and T follicular regulatory cells to control B cell responses. - Defining the signal transduction events through the BCMA cytokine receptor that regulates both T follicular helper cell homeostasis and plasma cell survival in autoimmunity. - Characterizing the development and persistence of IgE antibodies to airway allergens.
