At the Mid-Atlantic Microbial Pathogenesis Meeting, Dr. Criss launched a panel on “Navigating Career Paths in Microbial Pathogenesis.” Convener was Ashley Haines, professor at Norfolk State. Panelists were Carleitta Paige-Anderson, professor at Virginia Union; Isaah Vincent (UVA MIC graduate), who is now a program officer at NIGMS; Lauren Turner, who directs research on outbreaks at the VA state labs; Monica Ponder, former EID officer at CDC and now professor of food science at Tech; and David Garcia, associate director of GIDI. Tha panel was for all conference attendees and especially aimed at trainees looking towards opportunities post PhD.
