Sho Morioka Received Kanae Foundation Grant Award

Sho Morioka, PhD in the Ravichandran lab was selected for Kanae Foundation Grant Award this year. The main goal of the project is to explore how facilitating removal of apoptotic cell benefits human health. More specifically, the project attacks several long-standing questions in the field. First, does apoptotic cell phagocytosis regulate whole body metabolism? Second, can boosting cell clearance ameliorate obesity and potentially other diseases? Currently, these two compensatory questions have not been explored. The award was given to top 9 Japanese researchers over the world among hundreds applied. The Kanae Foundation was established in October 1970 for the purpose of supporting original research by young investigators engaged in the life sciences. Sanofi K.K. provides the financial support for the Kanae Foundation Award.
